Last year Elite Window Solutions finished work on the Hansen Retreat project on Waiheke Island, which netted them the Residential Over $50,000 Award in the Window Association of New Zealand’s Design Flair Awards, held in June 2011. “This was an exceptionally challenging project. Being the design it was, accuracy was imperative,” says Phillip Brangwynne, of Elite Window Solutions. “Overall we are very proud as a company of this project. The look of the joinery is fantastic, we have used some glass in very creative ways. The standout for us is the quality of our own workmanship. This has obviously been reflected in this house winning the NZIA National Residential Award.”

Beating three other national finalists, Elite Window Solutions took first place in their category in the WANZ Design Flair Awards. “This is another example of the architect’s demands drawing the absolute best from the fabricator,” said the judges. “Almost every normal feature of high-end New Zealand house design is present here: sliders coming to and forming open corners, glass fins behind structural silicone joints, IGUs on the weatherside, even nice touches with pivot doors closing onto the fins. But what really makes this the winner were the punched aluminium sheet facades either in sliding or bi-fold doors which create a startling layered effect.”
